Dr. Sunita Pote, Koti is an OMS arts produced Marathi picture. produced by DR.santosh pote Directed by Suhaas Bhosale, this film got nominated for the 46^TH International Film Festival of India (IFFI), 2015, under the category of Indian Panorama selection of Feature & Non-Feature Films. The scripts, dialogues and story were shaped by Rajesh Durge while the editing was done by Sagar Vanjari. The movie Starring Aadnyesh Mudshingakar, Divyesh Medge, Vinita Kale & Sanjay Kulkarni.

The movie showcases the tragedy that was poor, innocent transgender Sham’s family story. The story revolves around the predicament of a family trapped in a socially unacceptable love story.

Their eldest son, Sham, exhibits feminine behaviour which isn’t gone unnoticed by the society-afraid father. His father is not ready to face the humiliation which would come from this social burden of a love and ultimately decides to send Sham away from the family.  But this ultimate is met with his disagreeing youngest son who takes a stand in favor of his brother who he is very attached to. His struggle against his father and him refusing to abide the laws and norms and not follow them created pressure on his father. Afterwards the eldest son, Sham, who is still seized in the conundrum of gender identity, love and anger against his father… is seen taking a step.
All in all aptly titled by Neha Gupta and Onkar Hudar, Koti is a heart touching film addressing a very sensitive social issue whose need to be confronted is the call of the hour. This message is about how social manners are shrinking the minds of rural India too small; is restricting them from accepting modernization. It teaches us about the ordeal that is our country, and how the roots of urbanization haven’t spread all over it, and people are suffering without the acceptance of their modern thoughts.

Synopsis:

This is a story of family, caught in a dilemma of social burden love. Sham, elder son’s behavior is feminine. Father who is not able to face this social burden, decides to send away from family. But Babhrya who is younger son loves his brother so takes a stand to resist father and society and Sham caught in dilemma of gender identity and love and anger of father takes a step.. This is the tragic story of an innocent transgender of rural Indian society and its social manners.
